CR2430 vs CR2450
Both are 24.5 mm 3 V lithium coin cells. The CR2450 is 5 mm thick against 3 mm, giving it roughly double the capacity.
Both are 24.5 mm across and both give 3 volts. The CR2450 is 2 mm thicker and lasts about twice as long. A CR2450 will not fit a compartment cut for a CR2430 — 2 mm is far too much to force. The other way round a CR2430 may go in, but it will sit loose and can drop contact.

Thickness
5 mm against 3 mm. A 2 mm gap is large for a coin cell — the CR2450 is two-thirds thicker again, and forcing one into a CR2430 holder will bend the contact or the lid.
Runtime
560–620 mAh against 270–300 mAh. The CR2450 roughly doubles the time between changes, which is why it is chosen for sensors left alone for years.
Where each turns up
The CR2450 is the default in smart-home sensors and access badges. The CR2430 appears where a designer wanted the wider 24.5 mm contact area but had no room for a 5 mm cell.
Can I use a CR2450 instead of a CR2430?
It depends which way round. Both cells are 24.5 mm across, so the only difference is thickness. The thinner CR2430 will usually drop into a holder built for the CR2450, but it can sit low and lose contact with the sprung terminal. The reverse does not work: a 5 mm CR2450 will not fit a compartment cut for a 3 mm CR2430, and forcing it risks bending the contact or the cover.
Check before you swap. Batteries with similar dimensions are not always interchangeable. Always verify voltage, chemistry and the requirements printed in your device manual before fitting a replacement.
