Silver oxide vs lithium batteries
Silver oxide button cells are 1.55 V; lithium coin cells are 3 V. Different voltage and different formats, so the two never substitute for each other.
These are not competing options; they are used in different places. Silver oxide cells run at 1.55 volts and are the small, thick button cells in watches and instruments. Lithium coin cells run at 3 volts and are the wide, flat ones in car keys, motherboards and sensors. A device is designed around one or the other, and they are never interchangeable — the voltage is double.

Voltage decides everything here
1.55 V against 3 V is not a difference you work around. Any device is built for one or the other, and no adapter or spacer bridges them. If a cell you pull out reads 3 V, nothing in the silver oxide range replaces it whatever the size chart says.
The formats reflect the chemistry
Silver oxide gives a high energy density in a small thick cell, which suits a watch movement. Lithium gives 3 V from a single cell in a wide thin package, which suits a circuit board.
Where the confusion starts
Both get called watch batteries, and both are sold from the same rack. The prefix separates them cleanly: SR is silver oxide at 1.55 V, CR is lithium at 3 V.
Check before you swap. Batteries with similar dimensions are not always interchangeable. Always verify voltage, chemistry and the requirements printed in your device manual before fitting a replacement.
