Why two codes exist
LR44 is the IEC standard name: L for alkaline, R for round. AG13 comes from the generic numbering used across low-cost manufacturing, where AG simply counts button cell sizes upward.
What actually differs
Brand and quality control, not specification. AG-coded cells are typically unbranded imports sold in strips, and both capacity within the 110–130 mAh band and shelf life vary more than they would between named brands.
Not the silver oxide one
AG13 is alkaline at 1.5 V. The silver oxide cell in the same shell is the SR44 or 357 at 1.55 V — a different cell, not another name for this one.
Can I use a AG13 instead of a LR44?
Yes. The LR44 and the AG13 are the same cell — 11.6 × 5.4 mm, 1.5 V, alkaline. The two codes come from different naming schemes, not from different batteries, so whichever you find on the shelf will work.
