Alien crosstalk is the real problem it solves

Bundle many cables together and they interfere with each other, not just within themselves. That interference — alien crosstalk — is what limits Cat6 at 10 Gbps over distance, and Cat6a is built specifically to resist it with thicker insulation that holds neighbouring pairs further apart.

It matters more for power than people expect

Power over Ethernet at 60 or 90 watts puts real heat into a bundle, and heat raises resistance and shortens the distance a cable can carry data. Cat6a's heavier construction sheds that heat better, which is why it is specified for dense runs of powered access points and cameras.

The physical cost is real

Cat6a is thicker and stiffer, fills conduit faster, and does not like tight corners. In a retrofit through existing trunking that can matter more than the specification does.

Most homes do not need it

A domestic run is rarely near 55 metres, and few households move 10 Gbps between machines. Cat6a is a building and office answer far more often than a home one.

Check before you swap. Batteries with similar dimensions are not always interchangeable. Always verify voltage, chemistry and the requirements printed in your device manual before fitting a replacement.
